Consology (PTY) Ltd.

Self-Service solutions that connect business to returns & customers to superior service.

Company history

Consology has pioneered the South African self-service market over the past seven years, evolving from a provider of eBilling software into an integrator of sophisticated Self-Service solutions that are changing the ways that companies interact with their customers, employees and business partners. We have deployed solutions for a number of leading organisations in South Africa including Nashua Mobile, the South African Post Office (SAPO) and MTN.

Finding the Right Partner

From the outset, Consology's founders were determined to partner with a world-leading supplier of Self-Service solutions. We spent several months scouring the market for the right vendor to partner with, narrowing a list of more than thirty companies down to a shortlist of ten. Eventually, edocs emerged as our first choice.

edocs quickly established itself as the leader in the self-service market, vindicating our choice of partner as the right one. Siebel, the world's leading provider of customer management solutions, acquired edocs in January 2005 and appointed Consology as a business partner focused on the Self-Service arena. In 2006, Consology became an Oracle Business Applications Partner following Oracle's acquisition of Siebel.

Many of the world's largest companies including AT&T Wireless, American Express, FleetBoston Financial, GE Capital, KPN, O2, Sprint, Telstra, T-Mobile, British Telecom, Target, Toyota Financial Services and Verizon Wireless use Siebel Self-Service to power Online Billing, Payment and Customer Self-Service initiatives at their web sites.

Investors

Consology was initially self-funded because we wanted to prove our business model before looking for venture capital partners. Protocol Business Development Fund, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dimension Data Holdings, acquired a minority shareholding in the company in November 2001, giving us the funding to rapidly expand the business and entrench our position as South Africa's leading provider of Self-Service solutions. Following a successful business relationship and several years of growth, Consology's founders facilitated a management buy out and bought this shareholding back from Protocol in 2006. Consology is now fully owned by staff and management.

Expanding our Horizons

In December 2005, Consology signed a partnership agreement with Metastorm, one of the world's leading providers of enterprise business process management (BPM) software. Consology has added Metastorm's BPM Suite to its solutions portfolio, enabling us to help our customers to further improve process efficiency, flexibility and return on investment in their Self-Service deployments.

Consology entered into a partnership with Carrier IQ in 2007. Carrier IQ is the proven leader in embedded analytics for the mobile telecommunications industry.

As the only company to embed diagnostic agents within mobile devices, Carrier IQ offers a revolutionary new approach to quality of service management. The solution lives on the handset and provides actionable insight into the experiences subscribers are having with their phones, applications and network services.
